How To : Survive PT3 - Tips!
Salam Alaykum,
This is actually an update I've been procrastinating to do for the past two months. I've already had this as a draft but unfortunately I still have problems with my Windows 8.1 laptop, it sucks.
Anyway, let's continue!
INTRO
Alhamdulillah, I, along with the 'chosen' form 3 students of year 2015 have successfully fought courageously in the battle of PT3 that has been taking place since the eventful year, 2014. It is a battle for justice and blehhh who am I kidding? We have to face PT3 for public school students in Malaysia in the middle of the year for our Geography and History assignment followed by a Bahasa Melayu and English oral test. In the middle of October, which was 12-15 Oct, we had our writing test, which, may I point out, overwhelmed us all.
Beginning
Who would want to miss a chance to ace this test , PT3, which was claimed torturing by the first batch of students who faced it? I certainly did. So, what I did was I printed online questions, and I looked upon blogs to search for tips. After searching through the depths of the Internet, I finally found one which was quite useful! Click here if you want to go to the link .
In all honesty, the main factor contributing to my success is Allah. I would strongly advise the muslim students to perform Tahajjud prayer to strengthen our relationship with Allah. Memorizing the Quran also helps, make it on your to-do list. I usually use the time between Subuh or Maghrib-Isya' to revise and recite the Al-Quran, Be Good to ALLAH and good will come to you. Don't forget the prophet Muhammad and improvise your good deeds such as doing the Sunnah prayers daily, Charity and also Fasting on Mondays and Thursdays.
Next, parents. Remember, they're the ones that send you to school and pay for you're fees and so on, even Allah orders us to be obedient to our parents. With our parents' blessings, inshaa Allah, we will succeed.
Finally, teachers and friends. Don't go behind your teachers backs and bad mouth them our cast slanders. Again, you won't have their blessing, and remember Allah hears and knows everything. Pick wise friends. Alhamdulillah I have been blessed with good friends that taught my myriad knowledge throughout the years. You can do study groups or discuss any particular topic way with your friends. Either way, it'll be fun and we'll be able to remember it better.
Geogra(fi)phy
Fist, don't worry. You'll get the question for Geo and Sej before having to do the assignment which allows you some time to figure it out. Your teachers will also guide you along the way too. We have to interview either neighbours or people that lived around the school. It would really help if you are the type of person who doesn't have scrawny writing but rather neat and avoid spelling errors as it can make your work messy. All in all, listen to your teachers and do your work diligently. If your teacher says to mend your work, do it or else you'll screw up, because after all, your teacher will be marking it and we don't want to get on their bad side.
History/ Sejarah
This was a hard one, I'll admit. It was a question from the Form 2 textbook and we couldn't find evidence anywhere before it was unleashed on the Internet. Again, just listen to your teachers and do yo job.
Oral Test
For Bahasa - We will be grouped in either 4 or 5 people and we'll talk like a discussion. We'll be quarantined first for 10 minutes I think before going to discuss in front of the teachers. Make sure you sound confident and no stuttering. I mean, its not like the teachers actually pay attention to the facts, I think. Its all about how eloquent/fluent we are.
For English - We will be alone. But at least we won't have to worry about our broken English in front of our friends, lol. I can't comment on this, be make sure the examiners are fond of your elaboration on the topic you have been given.
There's also a listening test for both languages. Just keep your ears open and beware, they talk kind of fast. Well, at least I think so.
Bahasa Melayu and English (Writing)
I'd just say listen to everything your teachers say. A few weeks before PT3, they might spill the questions to you, figuratively by handing worksheets. I definitely regretted not looking back on my homework, there was an essay question yang SEJIBIK. I just laughed at the question. Oh, not to forget, know the format of the essay and grammar/tatabahasa has to be perfect. Its hard, I know. But gaining straight As isn't easy either. My secret to scoring full marks on my Bahasa essay would probably be my vocabulary. I used a vast vocab that I attained from SPM essays.
Mathematics
Is freaking hard, I admit. I almost cried looking at the question. Wait... maybe I actually did, but I can't remember, oh well. Just do yo homework and ask yo teachers a lot of questions, that's what I did. My teachers were probably annoyed seeing my face at the staff room all the time. Seriously, most teachers actually know my name (that's a big deal, u know) But that's the price we have to pay for triumphant, our dignity. Do so many exercises till you're a Math Whiz and when you can solve all the questions without wincing, you know you're an A student. Oh, and don't cry when you come upon the real PT3 Questions, just skip everything you don't know. That's what I did. After a few prayers and silence, I became calmer and I managed to figure out the questions!
Science
Just buy a revision book for form 1 - 3 because the textbook ain't enough. Just keep reading and I, did small notes. Its a highly effective way to remember. Understand and fathom and comprehend (same meaning lol) cause its actually really easy, considering its all about our basic life
Kemahiran Hidup Bersepadu
I was so freaked out about this one, knowing that last year, this subject killed the potential straight A students. To my surprise, this year was flipping easy. I mean it. Like seriously easy, if you study of course. Like Science, I had my own little flash cards I read. I started to do this just before my trial PT3 exams. I'm not sure about you, but I hated KHB so much I started questioning why TH do we have to learn this thing? After finally attaining inner peace, I noticed that KHB is actually really fun and particularly like Science as it revolves around our life too, its basically our living skills in life. But what I did which costed the most was probably buying the other form textbook. I bought the form 1 textbook for the notes because most of the revision books weren't as complete. It paid off though, and now the textbook will be handed to my younger bro who will be yet another victim of this battle next year.
Religious Studies / Pendidikan Agama Islam
For this one, all I did was revise all the Sirah that weren't questioned in last years paper. Basically, you don't have to memorize a lot, but you have to know how to answer the KBAT/HOTS questions. Its flipping hard for me. All the questions sounded the same! But don't be fooled, its actually easy, that even all my classmates got an A, 100 even. What I did the most was memorize the Quran verses and the hadiths that all referred to either doing good deeds or how we should prioritize the afterworld rather than dunya.
Bahasa Arab
This was the one that made me cry the most. I was actually good at Bahasa Arab but after glancing at the questions for the first time, I seriously wanted to throw it in the bin. It was sooooo hard. Luckily I was saved by my essay was pretty easy, it was about my friend/principal/father, can't remember. This was the most overlooked subject for me, seeing as I was eloquent with this language. But Alhamdulillah, in the end I managed to score an A. Only Allah knows how happy I was. Be careful of the grammar, it's kind of hard to detect, and always see your teacher to help, it helps a lot.
End
In all honesty, I didn't expect to get straight As. I always thought 6As would be adequate. I always thought at least a 60 on Math and Science would suffice. But in the end, it doesn't really matter. Well, actually it kinda does, because everyone's looking up to you and asking your results. But the thing that I've learnt throughout this year is that it's the thought that counts, and the efforts too. Maybe Allah won't provide triumphant now, likewise I didn't for the previous exams. Seriously, I've always had more than 1 B in my grasps. But with passion and true loyalty for those who have helped you along the journey, you have figuratively succeeded, with or without the flying colours on your result sheet.
I hope anyone who actually reads this has attained good morals, sorry for any inconvenience and harsh words, no pun ever intended. Hope you all do well in your lives,
xoxo
